2026 Hawaiʻi Club Volleyball Championship 18U Division (5/9/26)

The HNLV 16 Volleyball Club came firing back to win the 18U Championship in the Hawaiʻi Club Volleyball Championship in four sets over Jammers 17 Tysen, 22-25, 25-8, 25-9, and 25-12 at Windward Mall on Saturday!

Set one was all about the Jammers, as they controlled the momentum early over HNL! Outside Hitter Kadence Wilson scored the first two, which included a service ace, for an early 2-0 lead! Wilson will graduate in 2026 from Mililani High School.

HNL came back to tie the score on several occasions, but Jammers responded each time to not outright surrender the lead! That was only a prelude of what was to come for HNL in the final three sets though.

In the closing stages, HNL Middle Blocker Emma Amaral-Boyd scored a block and a kill to tie Jammers at 21, but Jammers responded with four of the final five points to end the first set! Amaral-Boyd led the University Lab Junior ‘Bows with 33 kills this past season!

Wilson scored the final two kills to win set one for Jammers, 25-22!

Jammers got off to another good start in set two with two of the first three points scored, but HNL was just warming up!

Both teams were neck and neck with HNL leading, 6-5, and they hit its stride!

A long hit from the Jammers, and an Alissa Painter kill generated a momentum-turning 15-2 HNL run, including 10 unanswered, to turn that 6-5 deficit into a 21-7 lead!

HNL ultimately ran away with the set two win, 25-8!

HNL spared Jammers the first point of set three, but they immediately attained control out of the gates!

There was no stopping Makamaeolilihoku Schilling, who scored two blocks and a kill as part of nine straight points in a massive 14-2 HNL run to take a 14-3 lead! Libero Saydee Vera Cruz, a 4.0 student at Pearl City High School who led the Chargers with 53 digs last season, added back-to-back service aces herself to punctuate those nine straight points scored!

“We were all a little in our head, but we all came out of it,” said Schilling of that first set.

Jammers were able to score and apply tourniquets, but HNL was far from done! Jammers were ultimately held to only six points the rest of the way!

HNL ended the third set on another massive 11-6 surge to take set three, 25-9!

In set four, both teams were evenly matched out of the gates. HNL was the first to uncork a significant run once again!

With an 8-5 lead, HNL ignited a mini 5-1 run to double up on Jammers, 12-6! HNL then went on another 9-4 run to ultimately run away to the tune of a 21-10 gap!

HNL scored four of the final six, which included the last three straight, to win set four, 25-12, and ultimately, the 18U Championship!

Schilling plans to celebrate with ice cream with her teammates and dinner with her own family.
