The Pure ALOHA 18U-1 Volleyball Team celebrates their 18U division title over Father’s Day weekend!
Father’s Day got extra special!
The Pure ALOHA 18U-1 Volleyball Team said “Happy Father’s Day” with an 18U division championship via a two-set sweep, 25-23 and 25-13, over Outrigger Canoe Club 17 in the 2026 Endless Summer Tournament at Hawaiʻi Convention Center on Sunday!
In the first set, OCC Outside Hitter Seizo Sexton #10, a Punahou High School student, drew first blood, but Pure ALOHA 18U-1 was not going to be denied.
The Pure ALOHA 18U-1 five-pack of Maluhia Tandel (13), Jarryn McCutcheon (3), Nathaniel Koahou (10), Brennan Flores (20), and Kekuaokalani Paik (21) celebrate after a point scored.
Both teams tied three times out of the gates, but Pure ALOHA 18U-1 took the lead for good off a kill from Middle Blocker Jaeden Miyahana #12 with the score tied at three! It kickstarted a 9-5 Pure ALOHA 18U run to take a handful of a lead. Miyahana is a graduate of Kāmehameha-Kapalama with a 4.0 GPA.
OCC tried to make some pushes and had a chance at the win in the waning moments. Fellow Outside Hitter Joshua Kauhane #21, another Punahou student, picked up the slack to keep OCC in contention with some critical aces and kills. Kauhane and Sexton aided in a 5-1 OCC run with two kills each, and OCC was down one, 24-23!
Pure ALOHA 18U Outside Hitter Jarryn McCutcheon #3, a Moanalua High School student and 2026-27 Santa Monica College commit, saved his team from overtime with a critical kill to end the first set with the 25-23 win!

“We just needed to make our serves and passes better, and we would’ve won,” Kauhane said.
The second set saw another similar start from both teams, but Pure ALOHA 18U-1 busted through the dam first!
Pure ALOHA held an 8-5 lead when an OCC miscue triggered a momentum-turning 7-1 run which included three straight aces, two from Outside Hitter Maluhia Tandal #13, a student at Hilo High School!

“This was another day at the office,” Tandal said.
From that point on, it was checkmate, and Pure ALOHA never let their gap dip under seven the rest of the way. Tandal and McCutcheon scored the last two points for Pure ALOHA to complete the two-set sweep with the 25-13 victory!
