2026 Hawaiʻi Club Volleyball Championship 14U Division (5/9/26)

It was an adrenaline-filled Saturday afternoon at Windward Mall, and Ike Loa 14’s Paki put a W on their mantle over 808 Athletic Club 14 Sheri, 25-19, 25-18, 23-25, and 26-24 to win the 14U division in the Hawaiʻi Club Volleyball Championship!

Ike Loa’s Outside Hitter Melia Purcell drew first blood with a service ace! Teammate and fellow Outside Hitter Chaya Delos Reyes added a kill to take an early 2-0 lead for Ike Loa!

808AC 14 got on the board on the next possession, and it was a dogfight from then on. Both teams tied five times before both cracked 10 points each.

Delos Reyes executed a kill to kickstart a 7-2 Ike Loa run! It was punctuated on a kill from teammate Aria Prem, and it was 17-12, Ike Loa! Their lead never dipped below three after that! Prem has a peak ELO of 1772 currently.

At the end of the first set, Ike Loa won, 25-19!

Set two saw a nip and tuck battle with four ties in the first eight points. With the score tied at four, Ike Loa hit its stride via a 19-7 run, including three service aces from Outside Hitter Sage McDaniels!

808AC did not give in and tried to rally. A kill from Middle Blocker Payton Lauden ignited a 5-1 surge until a net violation stopped their push and left the gap at seven, 24-17.

After sparing 808AC one more point, Ike Loa put the clamps on set two with a regular point for the 25-18 win!

In set three, 808AC scored the first three points, but Ike Loa responded with five of the next six to take a 5-4 lead!

808AC responded with a 5-1 surge themselves that put them up, 9-6!

Ike Loa did not back down and made it a game again. They traded points with 808AC until they tied at 14 off a Prem kill! Both teams did not see a lead of more than three until the closing stages.

“We let them slide back in the third set, but in the second set, I felt like, ‘We can do this!’” said Ike Loa Setter Elsie Frasier.

Both teams were tied at 23 off a long serve from 808AC, but it was 808AC that got the final say when Ike Loa served the ball too long! 808AC took set three, 25-23, and prevented a clean sweep.

Both teams were nip and tuck in the beginning of set four! 808AC uncorked an early 6-2 surge, but Ike Loa did not back down and take it to a fifth set! Neither team could attain more than a three-point lead, just like in set three.

They traded points left and right until overtime was needed to settle things; however, Ike Loa got the last say with two straight points with the score tied at 24! Ike Loa emerged victorious, 26-24!

“They beat us in TransPAC [TransPacific] in the finals, so we just really wanted to seek redemption, and I think that motivated us to play good today!” said Frasier.

Frasier also said she plans to celebrate with a pizza party with her team!
