Manie Joses transfers to Hawaiʻi from Davidson!

Per his Instagram (@maniej_8), Manie Joses has announced he will be a Rainbow Warrior for 2026-27 after two seasons at Davidson! Joses will have two seasons of eligibility left.

The University of Hawaiʻi Men’s Basketball team’s roster added another piece to its front court for the 2026-27 season with the signing of former Davidson forward Manie Joses on Tuesday.

Joses spent two seasons with the Wildcats before entering the portal and choosing the islands as his new home. He is a 6’7 wing with some good athleticism in the post. Joses averaged over 15 points and four rebounds for Great Britain in the NBA Global Academy; he will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

During his time at Davidson, Joses played in 54 games with just six starts. He is said to make a lot of blocks and dunks.

Joses is originally from London, England. He found his way to the islands thanks to assistant coach Gibson Johnson.

Joses is now the eighth player UH has snagged from the transfer portal. He joins Marcus Adams Jr., Jaden Matingou, Zack Davidson, Houran Dan, Chance Trujillo, Kellen Hampton, and Bol Dengdit as UH’s portal pickups.

The only two returnees from UH’s 2025-26 roster are Tanner Cuff and Isaiah Kerr; Isaac Johnson petitioned the NCAA about a waiver for a fifth season of eligibility earlier this month and has yet to receive any word. Scotty Belnap and Tiger Cuff are also listed as freshmen following two-year church missions.

In other recruitment news, former Rainbow Warrior Isaac Finlinson announced on Tuesday that he has committed to Western Michigan. Finlinson had hinted a possible return to the roster, but that’s no more; fellow former Rainbow Warrior Aaron Hunkin-Claytor entered the transfer portal, but he has also not announced his new home as of yet, nor has he confirmed a return to the UH roster for 2026-27.

My Reaction:

Manie Joses has some impressive numbers to say the least! We’ll need all the help we can get in our front court for our rookie season in the Mountain West Conference! I see him and Houran Dan as a dynamic duo in the paint. He doesn’t have the height of former Rainbow Warrior center Mor Seck at 7’1, or perhaps Isaac Johnson or former UH alum Mate Colina at 7’0, but I think he could have similar talent to that of Bernardo da Silva. While Bernardo wasn’t the most consistent free throw shooter, one wonders how Manie Joses is at the free throw line. Welcome to Hawaiʻi, Manie! Show us what you got!
