Aloïs Leyrolles arrives at Hawaiʻi!
Aloïs Leyrolles of Fribourg, Switzerland, is the newest addition to the UH Men’s Basketball roster. He is likely the first player from Switzerland on the UH roster!
There’s more international flavor now!
After not having a pickup since April 29, the University of Hawaiʻi Men’s Basketball team filled another hole on their roster on Tuesday. He is 6-foot-8 Fribourg Olympic Forward Aloïs Leyrolles of Fribourg, Switzerland!
Leyrolles averaged 6.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.2 steals in 31 games for the Swiss Basketball League in 2025-26!
Leyrolles has dual citizenship with France and Switzerland, according to Stephen Tsai of the Star Advertiser. Leyrolles is said to play multiple positions on the court and has a high basketball IQ. He also has a decent 40% 3-point shooting percentage.
Leyrolles joins Tiger Cuff, Scotty Belnap, Marcus Adams Jr., Jaden Matingou, Zack Davidson, Houran Dan, Chance Trujillo, Kellen Hampton, Bol Dengdit, and Manie Joses as new additions to the 2026-27 roster.
Tanner Cuff and Isaiah Kerr remain the only returnees from last season’s roster. Isaac Johnson hoped to return for an additional season, but the NCAA rejected his waiver for a fifth season of eligibility.
In other recruitment news, former Heritage Christian guard Houston Rolle has received an offer from UH with two seasons of eligibility remaining. Former Chaminade Silversword guard Nathan Medina has expressed interest in playing for UH-Manoa, but neither Rolle nor Medina has announced their new homes yet.
My Reaction:
How about that! Just when I thought the roster was finalized, we get this news! In my soon-to-be 30 seasons attending the games, I can’t recall ever having someone from Switzerland on the roster before. I can remember guys from Lithuania, Canada, Australia, France, Japan, the Republic of Georgia, and New Zealand, just to name a few. I see Leyrolles in a good role alongside Bol Dengdit and Houran Dan. Averaging under 7 a game doesn’t sound like much, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg for a player like him. Welcome to the islands, Aloïs! Show us what you got!
