Lueth Awan joins Hawaiʻi men’s basketball!
Lueth Awan of Australia and South Sudan is the newest pickup for the UH Men’s Basketball team!

The University of Hawaiʻi Men’s Basketball team’s roster for the 2026-27 season got bigger by one person on Tuesday with the signing of Lueth Awan!
Awan, who comes from Sydney, Australia, is fresh off an Australian NBL Championship with the Sydney Kings as a developmental player, according to Jon Chepkevich on X.
Awan will join the Rainbow Warriors as a member of the class of 2026! Awan has ties with South Sudan, like former Rainbow Warrior Junior Madut, who played for UH from 2020-2022.

Awan is the second pickup for UH in the month of July alone. On July 7, Alois Leyrolle of Fribourg, Switzerland, signed with UH.
Awan joins Leyrolle, Marcus Adams Jr., Zack Davidson, Tiger Cuff, Scotty Belnap, Jaden Matingou, Houran Dan, Chance Trujillo, Kellen Hampton, Bol Dengdit, and Manie Joses as new additions to the 2026-27 roster.
Isaiah Kerr and Tanner Cuff remain the only returnees from the 2025-26 roster.

Wow! Another pickup in as many weeks for UH Men’s Basketball! I see Lueth making as big an impact on the court just like Junior Madut did during his two seasons he played for UH (2020-22)! If Awan is good at the point position like how Madut was during the 2021-22 season, we’ll have a good chance at competing in the Mountain West! Welcome aboard, Lueth! I see big things in your future!
