They passed a big test!

The Mililani Trojans stampeded their way to a 3-set sweep over the Leilehua Mules in a thriller, 25-21, 25-17, and 25-21, at Mililani High School Gym on Monday!

The opening set saw both the Trojans and Mules in a dead-even fight! Mililani controlled the lead. They never trailed, but Leilehua made multiple pushes to try to take the lead!

Meleʻotu Olevao had a monster performance with at least 15 kills in the win for Mililani!

Mililani drew first blood in the first set, but Leilehua stuck to them like glue and never let the gap exceed three until late.

Leilehua’s Cali-Moniz-Kealoha proved to be a real monkey wrench for Mililani and executed critical kills to keep Leilehua close by. They tied several times, but Mililani never stumbled!

An Olevao kill with the score tied at 20 ignited a critical 5-1 Mililani run to end the first set with Mililani on top, 25-21.

Mililani came firing out of the gates in set two and scored the first nine points! That included a Joelle Fuamatu-Maʻafala ace!

Leilehua finally got on the board on the next possession and scored five of the next six. They cut the gap in half, 12-6, but Mililani answered that bell!

Two more Olevao kills allowed Mililani to maintain their gap the rest of the way. A late 6-3 Leilehua run put the Mules down five, 21-16, but Mililani scored four of the last five beginning with Ana Olevao to win set two, 25-17, and e’Lexxia Poland got the set-winning kill!

Mililani took an early 2-0 lead in set three, but Leilehua hung with them again. Mililani never trailed, but Leilehua did not back down one iota!

An Emmalyn Lotz kill tied Leilehua with Mililani at 8-8, but Mililani shut the door after that.

“We kept reminding ourselves to just be disciplined and block out the noise and just keep playing,” said Poland.

A Selah Fernandez block began a decisive 6-2 Mililani run that gave the Trojans a 4-point lead, 14-10! Poland punctuated another critical 5-2 run with another kill to give Mililani’s biggest lead of five! Leilehua made a final push, but Ana Olevao ended the set with the game-winning kill, 25-21!

Mililani improves to 3-0 in 2026 and 9-0 in individual sets.

“We have so much potential,” said Poland, who feels bold enough to predict a perfect season for Mililani. “Everybody on this team is extremely talented. No matter who goes in, I’m very confident that we’re gonna win!”

Mililani will hit the road for their next game against the Campbell Sabers at Campbell High School on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, at 7 pm HST.
