UH @ UCSD (1/3/26)
The University of Hawaiʻi Men's Basketball team saw its win streak of seven in a row snapped with an 83-73 loss to the UC San Diego Tritons at LionTree Arena on Saturday. This loss is also UH's third consecutive to UC San Diego.
Harry Rouhliadeff led UH with 16 points and four rebounds on 6-for-11 shooting. Dre Bullock was next with 15 points on 4-for-7 shooting and was 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Isaiah Kerr came off the bench for 13 points and four rebounds and was 3-for-4 from long range! Isaac Johnson chipped in 10 points and five rebounds to round out the double-digit scoring 'Bows.
Alex Chaikin led the Tritons with 21 points and one rebound and was 3-for-5 from 3-point range! He was followed by Bol Dengdit's 19 on 8-for-12 shooting, and former Rainbow Warrior Tom Beattie chipped in 12 points, seven rebounds, and a game-high eight assists. Leo Beath rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10.
Johnson drew first blood on an assisted layup from Bullock 95 seconds in. Both teams were in close proximity with each other. Neither team pulled more than a five-point lead early.
Despite seven ties, UH did what they could, but UCSD went on a big run that allowed them to pull away. In the last 4:24, UCSD uncorked a 10-0 run to end the first half up, 36-29, over UH.
UCSD's run continued into the second half. It then turned into a 17-0 run, and the Tritons were never threatened.
UH's first bucket of the second half came with 16:24 via Rouhliadeff, but they could not put together a significant run to close the gap. It wasn't until the closing stages that UH got the gap to 10, but it did not matter.
UH drops to 11-3 in the 2025-26 season, and 3-1 in Big West play. They will return home and have a full week to prepare for their next game against the UC Irvine Anteaters on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026. Tipoff at the Stan Sheriff Center is scheduled for 7 p.m. HST, and you can listen to the game on ESPN Honolulu, or watch the game on Spectrum Sports.
