Making tournaments fun for everyone!
We all know tournaments are all about the hardware, but what about the rest of the family there to support? In the 90s, AAU and select ball was small. I remember only 3 or 4 parents going on our trip to nationals in Virginia. Sibling and grandparents were never on the road. Now, the whole family goes and even extended family members.
With 3 and sometimes 4 generations in attendance for tournaments, 7GEN Culture has made it a mission to offer more than just the game when you come to their events. They are trying to bring a holistic experience to sports and the chance for everyone to be able to find entertainment at the games.
Other children and siblings are the hardest fans to please. A crying baby or toddler can make the game experience of everyone else difficult. Tables, snacks, other relatives and more are not always enough to keep these little balls of energy engaged. We are looking to creating Kids Zones at major tournaments and possibly even key matchups throughout the season. Face painting, bouncy houses, water toys and more are a great way for kids to be entertained and give parents and grandparents a chance to focus on what is happening on the field.
For grandparents and parents, it can sometimes feel overwhelming after a game. You got to load up everyone, feed people, find your car and then still find parking when you get back. This can be exhausting. Imagine their being free or donation only entertainment and snack for adults. Would your day be more enjoyable if there was a Paint & Snack sign-up sheet or a live art exhibition for you to walk through and observe?
Your athlete wants to have fun on the field as well. There is more to soccer than just soccer. Team events and competitions throughout the weekend give teams a chance to bond in off-field situations that will increase their team identity and family bond. Giveaways and raffles for players are a great way to get all the teams together and excited for an off-field event.
Overall, 7GEN Culture has found a way to make sports fun again and get the whole family involved. Our new goals include expanding our entertainment offerings at our tournaments and major games to give a whole family entertainment experience that you don’t get at other events. Music, arts, food and fun make the tournaments a great experience for fans of all ages and interest levels.
